About Us

Greg2Greg Baer, PE, is a Mechanical engineer with extensive background and experience in the renewable energy and hydronic arenas.  He received his Bachelors of Science ME degree at University of Hartford and Masters of Science degree from Clemson.  Background includes unmanned submarine guidance systems working at Exxon Production Research, coax cable design and manufacturing with Comm/Scope, satellite dish design at Prodelin and solar water heating system development at Exemplar.

Mr. Baer purchased the assets of Exemplar in 1987 and has been developing and manufacturing solar thermal systems ever since.  He has also diversified SunQest into areas that compliment the energy efficient house like:

Greg has developed a unique process to manufacture solar panels with exceptional efficiency and moderate costs. Extensive testing of various designs and materials have resulted in two lines of solar collectors; conventional glass-glazed and the new lightweight, super efficient Tefzeltm-glazed solar panels.

Posted by on 2010-01-11 14:06:14 MST

SunQest Solar in North Carolina has completed the final touches on a large solar array project at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. The project was designed to service the hot water needs of the Plemmons Student Center. It consists of some 42 solar collectors and multiple tanks. There are 35 Solar Development Inc glass-glazed collectors and 7 Prototype lightweight SunQest FRESOURCE high performance collectors. One notable feature of the project is the installation of data logging and monitoring capabilities. The school's engineering students will be able to access the information via the internet and track the system's performance as a class project.
